FAQ
What is Custom Concrete Coating, LLC's product?
Custom Concrete Coating, LLC's product is a color integrated, modified
acrylic cement product made of cement, silica sand and a modified acrylic resin
for its bonding agent.
What warranty is involved?
Custom Concrete Coating, LLC offers a 5-year limited material warranty
against check cracking, fading, delamination, and general product failure.
How thick is it?
We generally apply our systems on old concrete between 3/32" to
1/8". Custom Concrete Coating, LLC's systems are thin layered cements which
depend on adhesion through the use of modified acrylics.
What does it look like?
Custom Concrete Coating, LLC's systems achieve a look, texture and
color of any type stone or look you require. A base coat is applied that fixes
any imperfections in the original concrete. A design is then laid over on top
of the first coat to achieve the desired texture. A final clear coat is put
over the system that is nonporous and protects it as well as makes it very easy
to maintain. Mold, mildew, motor oil, etc. can be sprayed off with a regular
garden hose. Common detergents can be used to remove tough or repetitive latencies.
What colors does it come in?
We have a variety of standard colors to choose from. However, we can
custom produce just about any color you wish.
How long does it take to do a job?
An average job will take 2 to 3 days. Larger, more complex jobs may
take longer. Clean foot traffic is usually allowed within the same day.
Does the pool have to be drained?
No, the pool should be full. If the pool were empty, the Custom Concrete
Coating, LLC system would stain the plaster. We carefully lay plastic about
18 inches from the edge to collect any over pour or debris. All you need to
do is shut the pool pump off and we will clean the pool once the job is done.
How do you treat control or expansion joints?
All existing control joints should remain in the surface to allow for
expansion and contraction of the original concrete. They are not coated with
the Custom Concrete Coating system and are masked off. We can, however, work
to insure these joints match the color of the new coating.
Is it Kool Deck?
No. Kool Deck is a product that must be applied to freshly poured concrete
within 5 hours in order to bond. Custom Concrete Coating's system can be applied
to new or old concrete. In addition, we utilize a three-coat system which is
sealed with a finish coat, which makes it impervious to staining. Whereas Kool
Deck is a very porous, non-flexible product, that has a minimal life expectancy.
Will pool water, chlorine, muriatic acid, or bleach stain the new
concrete coating?
No, the sealer we apply to our system is not affected by most chemicals.
Will Custom Concrete Coating's system fade?
No, not dramatically, the Custom Concrete Coating product has approximately
a 2% fade factor over five years, which is undetectable by the human eye; our
warranty covers this.
What if something happens to my deck after the warranty?
The material is repairable to its original state. We service all decks
past warranty.
Can you apply the Custom Concrete Coating system over painted concrete?
Yes, though it generally will need to be scarified or sandblasted to
remove the paint enough to where our product will bond with the original concrete.
Can the Custom Concrete Coating system be applied to steps?
Yes, the Custom Concrete Coating system can be applied to concrete
steps including risers and treads.
How does the price of Custom Concrete Coating's system compare with
removing and replacing old concrete?
The cost of the Custom Concrete Coating system is normally 20%-25%
less than the cost of removing cement and pouring new and is much better looking
and much easier to maintain than the original cement.
What is the cost per square foot?
The price depends on a number of factors, such as the condition of
the original concrete, the patterns chosen, etc.
How do I clean Custom Concrete Coating surfaces?
Usually, normal washing with a hose is all that is needed. For stubborn
stains, a brush with laundry detergent is all that is needed.
I know concrete is strong and durable, how does Custom Concrete Coating's
system compare?
Custom Concrete Coating's system is harder than concrete. Most concrete
has a compressive strength of 2000-2500 psi rating. Custom Concrete Coatings
has a 7200 psi rating.
